 Psychic Phenomena of Consciousness

Even though no biological entity has been more conscious than the modern human being, there are still ways to develop our consciousness, mainly through the development of psychic “powers”. The main psychic phenomena of consciousness are telekinesis and Extra Sensory Perception (ESP), more commonly known as “the sixth sense”. ESP includes telepathy, clairvoyance and precognition, and it is part of an extremely advanced individual and collective consciousness.1] As a result of much evidence and proof throughout recent history, mainstream science is now starting to accept the existence of these phenomena, but science has not yet been able to explain them. More and more people seem to be aware of our remarkable ability to intuit each other’s thoughts and emotions, as well as to consciously think and create together without communicating through the five senses. Collective consciousness is most apparent in the way we intuitively sense and interact between our physical, emotional, mental and spiritual “energy fields”. Although science has long discovered the existence of gravitational, electric, and magnetic fields, significant research in the frontier science known as parapsychology indicates that other types of fields, including thought fields, may also exist.[2]

 Telekinesis

Telekinesis is the power to influence or control the movement of an object using only your mind. It is one of the more common types of psychic phenomena, and there have been many claims and demonstrations of telekinesis throughout history. Although skeptics were able to prove that most exhibitions of the paranormal power were simply clever, hidden tricks3], there have been a number of controlled demonstrations and scientific experiments when there was definite evidence of paranormal activity that could not be explained. A notable person with telekinetic abilities, among many others, is Nina Kulagina. Nina Kulagina was a Soviet psychic of the 60s and 70s who possessed many paranormal powers, among them telekinesis. There has been no proof that any of her demonstrations have been tricks, and the many experiments involving her powers were mostly well monitored and recorded. In one of the experiments, several non-magnetic objects including matches were placed inside an airtight glass cube to prevent air drafts and threads or wires. She was able to make the matches move around inside the cube under these conditions repeatedly.4] Unfortunately, the scientists present at the experiments were not the most credible, so there is still doubt as to whether it was all real. Some very new science claims to have found so-called psi-channels which could theoretically explain a number of psychic phenomena, including telekinesis.

 Telepathy

Telepathy is perhaps the most known of the psychic phenomena. It is the supposed transferring of information between minds. Usually, telepathy is demonstrated between emotionally bonded individuals, such as partners, close friends and family, particularly twins.5] Telepathy has been the subject of experimentation ever since the early 1900s, and it is still being tested by scientists around the world. Experiments today use electromagnetically shielded rooms and video cameras showing the ‘receiver’ for the ‘sender’ to concentrate on, testing dream telepathy, ganzfeld telepathy, and ‘the sense of being stared at’ telepathy. Meta analyses collated odds against chance of, accordingly, 22 billion to 1, 29 quintillion to 1, and 202 octodecillion to 1 (that’s 57 zeros).6] In an experiment with two identical 8 year old twins, one twin’s feelings of fear and pain caused sudden blips on the polygraph attached to the other twin without him realizing it.7] This shows that telepathy, if real, is something that transcends time and space.

 Clairvoyance

Clairvoyance, similar but not identical to remote viewing, is the ability to gain information about an object, person, location or physical event through means other than the five known human senses.8] Specifically, clairvoyance provides the clairvoyant with information through “seeing” or visualizing things and happenings beyond the range or capability of physical sight. It is different to telepathy in that telepathy is a connection between two minds, where as clairvoyance requires only one clairvoyant mind. Studies have been unable to establish an understanding for the many claims of clairvoyance, but research continues. The Stargate Project in the late 1900s was one of several projects by the US Federal Government to investigate the validity and possible strategic deployment for military use of psychic phenomena, especially “remote viewing”.[9] In remote viewing, which is an aspect of clairvoyance, a viewer is able to accurately describe a scene that is at a distance.

 Precognition

Precognition, also called future sight or second sight, is the acquisition of knowledge of the future that can’t be deduced from presently available or normally acquired, sense-based information.10] Although it is the least credible form of ESP and disbelieved by most scientists, psychologists and others, precognition is the most reported case of ESP.11] It supposedly occurs while we are dreaming, when the subconscious mind is the most active. Precognitive information can be acquired through trance, channeling, divination, and mediumship.12] Precognition is different to premonition in that precognition is knowing or predicting something with certainty, and premonition is merely the feeling that you know what will happen.13] One very controversial theory supporting precognition is that it has the power to create powerful psychokinetic energy fields, which cause the predicted future to actually happen exactly the way they were envisioned.14] Thus, it is not so much foreseeing the future as determining the future.
